It is important to play these in all keys. Another part of this lesson is playing in groups of 3 (triplets) like in the key of c: cde, def, efg, gab etc…
also, groups of 4 5 6 and 7
another groundbreaking technical exercise would be to play them in 3rds like in the key of c: ce,df,eg,fa,gb etc…
Also try other intervals (definition of an interval is the distance between 2 notes…..I like “the jazz language” by Dan Haerle for music theory) like 4ths 5ths 6ths 7ths 9ths 10ths 11ths 13ths
If you get this far and do this in all keys try playing DIATONIC TRIADS in position, like: ceg, dfa, egb, fac, gbd, ace, bdf
This can lead to DIATONIC 7ths: cegb, dfac, egbd, face, gbdf, aceg, bdfa, which also can be played in the position of the scale pattern. Remember, the best student always expands upon the lesson.
Of course, these exercises are applicable to all scales and modes
